Preparing for my Future...

Knowing the course applicable for you according to your ability is good. Since you will identify easily what course is really appropriate for you to take. It will also lessen your thinkings because finding the course you will engage to is somewhat hard. But, if you already know the subject area you are good at, you can think of your course with ease.
That's why an examination is invented, for us, students to know the course fitted for us. This is what they call, NCAE or National Career Assessment Examination. Mostly, fourth year students are the one who get this exam but surprisingly this year, third year students were the one who take it.
This NCAE, as what we all know, helps the students to choose their course according to their ability. It tests them on different subject area like the mathematical ability, scientific ability, verbal and nonverbal ability, reading comprehension, clerical ability, manipulative skills and entrepreneurial ability. This examination will let us know in what subject we are really excelling at.
This is very helpful for the high school students because they will go to college after their high school. But this tests doesn't mean that you should get that course because it is still you who will choose if you will follow your desire or the result of this test. This is just a preparation for your future.

Tree of My Life

When I was a child, I always compare myself to animals and insects. I always think of what animal would I be if I’m not a human. But comparing me to a tree never comes to my mind. I never thought of becoming a tree. But now, I realized that trees are really important not only to us but to everything in this world. Now, I already knew that nothing will live long if trees do not exist. Our world would be nothing but an ugly place to stay if these trees will be cut up to point that nothing will be left.

This time, I realized that all trees are “giving trees” because they give us everything we need. For me, comparing myself to a tree makes me feel like I’m much honored because I can also be compared to a tree. I can say that I’m a tree with big trunks, multiple branches, and green leaves. This tree is very popular in the Philippines because it is our national tree, the Acacia Tree.

Acacia tree is a tall tree about 20-25 m. Its branches are widespread and its bark is rough and furrowed. From what we know, acacia tree does not bear flowers but surprisingly, it is. It bears a pink and beautiful flower.

I chose this tree because this tree has many uses aside from its characteristics. This tree is widely known for its hard and heavy trunk use to make chairs, tables, furniture and such. Its flower is also used as decorations. Its leaves give shade to people who are tired of working or those who wants to rest.

I can consider myself a “giving tree” because on my own little way, I can help people who need me. Also, I want to make people happy by helping them in such way that I won’t hurt other people. I also want to show them that I can take any risk for someone especially those who are really special for me. I can say I am a “giving tree” because I can also give or sacrifice many things for the sake of others.

A DREAM COME TRUE...

I’ve been waiting for this day to happen. I thought I will not know the feeling of having a long intramurals. But when they announced that there will be, I actually got very excited as if it’s my first time to experience it. The days passed by slowly and I hate it. I want to have it right here, right now.

The Intramurals 2011 began. Everyone was so excited. It started with a cheer dance prepared by each year. Everyone was shouting the name of their team; Green Chevrolet for freshmen, Yellow Lamborghini for sophomores, Red Ferrari for juniors and Blue Porsche for the seniors. I was amazed because everyone was so active and full of energy.

After the cheer dance competition, the Mr. and Ms. Physique representatives of each year ramped around the court with their most graceful walk to fascinate all the Sayanistas, especially the judges. The flags, made by each team, were raised to officially start the Intramurals 2011.

The real game started and the students went to the place where they will play while those who will not play yet cheered their teammates. I played sack race, but I really want volleyball. The Blue Porsche and the Red Ferrari had a tie so the game was repeated. Unfortunately, we lose. I watched the other games and was so happy because everyone was having fun.

The next day, was the main event, the Blue Porsche’s basketball team versus the Red Ferrari’s basketball team. From the first day up to the second day of the intramurals, everyone is still enjoying and energetic.

I wish this day will never end. Now, we can prove that the CNSHS students were not just academically inclined but also physically active. No one can say that we only have brains because we also have the ability to play sports. I really had fun with the Intramurals 2011. My tiredness is worth it. Thank you YSC. GO FERRARI, GO, GO FERRARI!!! I’m so happy that we won the 2.5th place in the over- all ranking. RED FERRARI’s gonna rock your world.

Sonnet 116 of William Shakespeare

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

A. RECALLING

1. List 3 or 4 things that love is not according to Sonnet 116.

· Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove.

· Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks within his bending sickle's compass come.

· Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks.

· Love does not admit impediments.

2. List several things that love is according to Sonnet 116.

· Love is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken.

· Love is the star to every wandering bark, whose worth's unknown, although his height is taken.

· Love bears it out even to the edge of doom.

B. INTERPRETING

1. What is the meaning of the image of the star in lines 7-8? How does the image apply to love?

· It is a North Star that sailors use, especially those who are lost, in lieu of a compass to orient themselves which way to follow.

· Love is like a North Star, simply because people follow and depend in love in times of problems. And also, love serves as a guide for them to know the right way to go. Just like a star, love brightens our world when we are facing difficult problems.

C. EXTENDING

1. Do you agree or disagree with the speaker's interpretation of love? Why or why not?

· I agree. Because I believe that love is an ever- fixed mark, it doesn’t change whatever happens unless it is not true love. Also, love is like a star because it lights up our world in dark moments of our life. And lastly, love is really eternal, and everlasting love will never end until the end of the world.

What if...

Joseph: Ma'am May, can I asked you some questions because I have heard that you listen to your students whenever you have time.
Ma'am May: Ah. I see. What questions do you want to ask?
Joseph: What if next grading I'm not in the top ten anymore?
Ma'am May: I don't think you want that to happen.
Joseph: Of course, ma'am! I have decided to study harder this grading to prove that I'm worth it with my position.
Ma'am May: That's the spirit, Joseph.
Joseph: What if I didn't make it this quarter?
Ma'am May: It's okay but better if you will be. Lately, I had realized that studying hard is not the only way to maintain your position in the top ten.
Joseph: But what are those things that I can do to retain my honor?
Ma'am May: I know that you have learned that time management can help you; because with this, you can do your tasks on time, and you will not cram; because I hate cramming when I was in high school and college.
Joseph: Ah. I'll try that because I am very sure that your advice will really help me to maintain or even have a higher position in the ranking.
Ma'am May: Your performances in school should also be good because this is included in the grading system.
Joseph: Okay ma'am. Thank because you had taught me many things for just only a few minutes of talking.
Ma'am May: No problem with me. Do you have any other questions?
Joseph: None ma'am. I think I had asked all my questions already. Now, I have realized that I can still have a higher position ,and that I should not be contented to my rank, and that I should show them that I'm worthy with my position.
Ma'am May: Yes. I think it's already your Physics time, you better go back to your room.
Joseph: Thank you ma'am for spending a short time entertaining my questions. Goodbye, ma'am.
Ma'am May: Goodbye.
